Shama Sikander, while speaking about the drug debate in Bollywood, says that nobody is forced into it, it depends on the individual. This comes after Kangana Ranaut's recent claims about 99 percent of Bollywood being into drugs
After Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death, debate about several issues such as nepotism, bullying and others, were reignited. Actress Shama Sikander in a conversation with Hindustan Times, has spoken about claims of an alleged drug scene in Bollywood, and said that one has a choice and nobody is forced into it. This comes after Kangana Ranaut claimed that 99% of Bollywood industry individuals consume drugs.
She said how some people are going overboard to satisfy their own personal agenda, and that it is discouraging those who dream to be a part of the industry. "Sad people aren’t understanding how they’re being manipulated, brainwashed into believing certain things. This industry gave employment, entertain us, gave us great artistes. This isn’t that bad a place," she said.
The actress sharing her experience contradicted the Queen actress’ claim of almost everyone being into drugs. “I don’t think the entire industry is into drugs. I’ve been to parties where there were no drugs at all and also to some parties where there were drugs. It’s up to you as to what you choose for yourself. No one forces you to do something at gun point or puts anything into your mouth,” she said. Also the actress feels there are some people who are into it, but it needs to be handled sensitively.
Also talking about groupism being a serious issue more than nepotism which acts a speed breaker in the way of the outsiders, she shared how these certain groups in B-town won’t allow you to function if an individual is out of their circle, resulting into their audition tapes blocked from reaching the film producers.
